Happy National Farm Safety Week from Holland & Sons!

September 19, 2016

National Farm Safety and Health Week annually celebrated the 3rd week of September is a great reminder for everyone to take extra precautions to stay safe this harvest. Holland & Sons is committed to promoting safety to all employees, customers, and the surrounding community. The National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS) sponsors the event every year. The 2016 theme is “Farm Safety… A Legacy to be Proud of.” This theme demonstrates the rich traditions that run deep in farming and the importance of safety in this field.  According to the NECAS, this year’s theme was selected to remind local and rural communities that agriculture is one of the most dangerous occupations in the U.S. but farm injuries and fatalities are preventable through education and its implement in real world situations. One way that everyone can help improve safety this harvest is on the road. Drivers can simply slow down and be patient when sharing the road with farm machinery. Peggy Romba, Illinois Farm Bureau program manager, also states farmers can ensure that SMV symbols and reflectors are maintained on equipment, equipment is inspected before use, and that everyone operating equipment is well trained for roadway travel. Holland & Sons recognizes the hard work and sacrifices farmers make every day and their commitment to safety. Have a Safe and Happy Harvest!
